DIY: Christmas Wreath Deer Alvy

When it starts getting dark earlier outside and the scent of cinnamon and fir slowly fills the house, the best time of the year begins: Christmas season. These small, cozy moments are exactly what we love so much and they keep inspiring new ideas. Don’t have a Christmas wreath yet? Then this is a great last-minute project. A DIY wreath like this can be made with little effort.

You need:

  • Our template

  • Paper plate

  • Light and dark green cardboard or normal paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Acrylic paint

  • Paintbrush

  • String

  • Small decorations (glitter, sequins, etc.)

  • Optional: A cup of water

If you’re working without our template, you’ll also need a pencil and ruler for the paper strips.

Instructions:

  1. Cut out all parts of our template.

  2. Cut a circle out of the center of the paper plate so that a ring remains.

  3. Cut the green paper strips; they should be about 1.5 cm wide.

  4. Thread the paper strips from underneath through the opening in the paper plate, pull them up, and glue the ends together. Repeat until a full wreath forms.

  5. Cut small zigzags into the ends.

  6. Now make the bow and glue it to the top of the wreath. You can find a detailed video tutorial here.

  7. Reindeer Alvy can be printed in color right away or painted onto cardboard with acrylics. Glue it to the bottom of the wreath, opposite the bow.

  8. Finally, cut a piece of string to hang up the wreath.
