Kinderrucksack richtig ausmisten und reinigen

A children's backpack is used every day; no wonder that over time all sorts of odds and ends and crumbs accumulate inside. It is high time for a thorough cleaning and a little decluttering! We will show you step by step how to do it best.

Especially with younger children, unnecessary items often collect in the backpack. Now is the perfect time to decide together with your child:

  • What is needed regularly?
  • What is broken, duplicated, or unnecessary?
  • Are there any food items or old snacks that need to be thrown away?

Extra tip: use the opportunity to organize the contents. Small pouches or bags for pencils and toys can be helpful.

Before cleaning, the backpack should be completely emptied. Shake it carefully over a trash can first. This will get rid of crumbs, sand, and lint. Then empty all compartments.

Depending on the material of the backpack, you should be careful when cleaning. Here is how to do it properly:

  1. Check the label:
Before cleaning your backpack, take a look at the care label. There you will find important information about whether hand washing is recommended or if the backpack can even go in the washing machine. This information is crucial to protect the material and colors.

  2. Note about our Little Who backpacks:
Our backpacks are designed to be dirt-repellent. For light cleaning, we recommend turning the backpack completely inside out so that the lining faces outward. Both the outer and inner materials can be easily wiped with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. We do not recommend cleaning in the washing machine.

Now that the backpack is clean and fresh, it is worth packing it again in an organized way.

Tips:

Heavy items in the back (lunch box, water bottle) to protect the back.

Small items in the inner compartment (tissues, hair tie, wallet).

Check briefly every day – this prevents a chaotic pile from forming.

A children's backpack is heavily used – but with a few simple steps it stays hygienic, tidy, and ready for use for a long time. Regular decluttering and cleaning saves time, prevents unpleasant odors, and ensures that everything has its place. This way, your child starts each day with a well-organized companion for new adventures.
